What are fixings and fittings?

A fixing is, essentially, any mechanical device used to join materials and parts together. The leading examples of fixings are screws, nails, and bolts.

Fittings, as a term, can refer to any movable object within a property. Here, we lean towards the definition that means just about the same thing as fixing. The two are interchangeable, and you can find them both here.

What’s the difference between fixtures and fittings?

There is an alternate definition for fittings given under the previous question. A fixture is basically that but permanent. It is worth noting that those types of fittings are omitted from this category.

For clarity, when we mention fittings, we're referring to fixings and fasteners, not fixtures.

What’s the difference between fastenings and fixings?

They are almost the same thing, as it turns out. Fastenings are fittings that are expected to be removed or adjusted at some point, but should still provide a good level of stability, while fixings are designed to be extremely secure and nearly permanent.
