Vigil 3m x 2m Lithium Battery Fire Blanket

Designed to be quickly draped over the device and tucked in around the edges, it provides an efficient way of isolating and controlling a fire involving a lithium-ion battery to contain the flames, smoke, and toxic fumes within moments.

Currently, there are limited safe ways of tackling a fire involving a lithium-ion battery as they burn at extreme temperatures, even small ones, and create an effect called "thermal runaway" where one cell ignites the next in an unstoppable chain. Therefore, if your premises has lithium-ion-powered devices, especially in large quantities, having a lithium fire blanket is recommended.

Generally, such devices are safe. However, they can pose a fire risk and cause injury if they become damaged or inappropriately used and recharged. The medium lithium battery fire blanket is designed to contain the risk of thermal runaway during battery fires and reduce damage, helping to prevent the escape of toxic fumes.

Manufactured by Vigil Products, lithium fire blankets are recommended for garages, workshops, recycling centers, factories, laboratories, marine, aviation, and military locations. In fact, the single-use lithium blanket should be available wherever a lithium fire could occur. It comes in a red bag clearly labeled for easy identification in an emergency, with shoulder straps for carrying as a backpack, and a carry handle. You should keep it in an easily accessible location for an emergency.

Once you have removed the 3m x 2m lithium fire blanket from the bag, at a safe distance from the fire, place it on the ground and then unroll and unfold the blanket. Ideally, two people should each hold a handle and pull the blanket over the device in one continuous movement, taking extra care of the fire, toxic fumes, and chemical risks.

The weight of the fire blanket will settle, and you should check that it is tight around the object with the edges tucked in. You should then leave it in place until deemed safe by your local fire brigade so that they can assess the situation further. It is important to note that this product will not extinguish the fire but will reduce associated risks and prevent the fire from spreading.
